Hempcoins are freely available in small numbers through a number methods:

Purchasing Hempcoins

The Hempcoin is available for purchase on numerous world-class exchanges, but what is an exchange and how exactly does it work?
Cryptocurrency exchanges are "businesses that allow customers to trade digital currencies for other assets, such as conventional fiat money, or different digital currencies" (-Wikipedia)

As Bitcoin was the original cryptocurrency almost all exchanges use it as the default trading currency. Some accept fiat (US Dollars, British Pound, etc.) but almost always it is Bitcoin. The Bitcoins are then traded to your desired cryptocurrency and vice versa much in the same way the US Dollar is used almost everywhere as the base for fiat currency exchange.

Mining Hempcoin

In the same manner as Bitcoin, Hempcoin can be acquired through a process known as "mining"

The Bitcoin wiki defines the process as such: "Mining is the process of adding transaction records to Bitcoin's public ledger of past transactions. This ledger of past transactions is called the block chain as it is a chain of blocks."

The same process applies to the Hempcoin

Getting Started

First things first

Before we starting mining Hempcoin, we'll need the software for it.
There a few different options out there. Sometime links go down, we'll do our best to keep them current but should they, a simple Google search should provide with the link.
Before downloading software, please confirm whether you have the right graphics card (GPU) for the software. Alternatively, processor (CPU) mining is available.

CGminer Download CPU, Nvidia and ATI mining.
CUDAminer Forum link Nvidia Mining including Linux.
CUDA manager Subreddit Additional Features for CUDAminer including failover support.
GUI miner-scrypt Website GUIMiner-scrypt is a miner with a full user-interface.

Solo Mining

More coming soon!

Find the file "Hempcoin.conf" on your system and add the text below to "Hempcoin.conf", located at

Windows: %APPDATA%\Hempcoin\ Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Hempcoin/ Linux: ~/.hempcoin/
  • rpcuser/rpcpassword: Set to a rememberable value, you will use it for solo mining.
  • rpcallowip: Should be the IP address of the computer running the mining software. in this case, its the local PC.
  • rpcport: Is the port your wallet is waiting for connections on.

Make sure you relaunch your wallet after making any changes to this file as it only reads it on starting up.
>You will need to relaunch it with the command:

Windows: Run > "cmd" > [LOCATION-TO-HEMPCOIN]/hempcoin-qt.exe -server Mac: hempcoin -server Linux: hempcoin -server

This is the config you would use on your mining software to solo mine on the wallet, in this example it would be as follows:

       "name" : "HEMP - solo",
       "url" : "",
       "user" : "hemp",
       "pass" : "x"

You wont see any accepts on your mining software until you find a block.
